The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is a dynamic, creative learning organization that fosters the achievement, well-being and dignity of every student.  The OCDSB is the largest school district in Eastern Ontario, serving 73,000 students in 147 schools Occupational Therapist Learning Support Services, 133 Greenbank Road, Nepean Term, Full-time (10 months) 35 hrs/week, Monday to Friday $81,881 - $101,255 Under the direction of the Program Manager of Speech-Language Pathology & Occupational Therapy, the Occupational Therapist: Leads and/or participates in the development of professional practice guidelines for occupational therapy in the education sector using knowledge of evidence-informed best practice in order to support student achievement and well-being; Provides targeted assessment, intervention, and collaborative consultation for students with complex sensory processing patterns, emotion regulation and/or behavioural regulation needs, specifically addressing safety concerns and barriers to participation in a school environment. Contributes to the selection and maintenance of specialized equipment for students through consultation and collaboration with community health agencies, school teams and the central Learning Support Services (LSS) specialized equipment lead; Provides student-specific and/or classroom-based consultation and resource including the development of Individual Education Plans; Ensures that professional standards required for provision, training and  maintenance of equipment for students are met; Builds capacity among educators, LSS professionals and parents/caregivers by developing and delivering professional development and resources to support students with complex sensory and self-regulation needs within the school setting; Actively participates in broad-based system service delivery within the multidisciplinary team including making decisions, recommending and setting priorities; Fulfills professional responsibilities; Performs duties related to administration; and Carries out other related duties as assigned. Candidate Profile: Formal Education: Master's degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from a recognized university and registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (C.O.T.O.). Experience: Three years of related experience is required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position and to become familiar with pertinent board programs, service delivery considerations, policies and procedures. School board experience is an asset. Additional Skills: This job requires skills/knowledge in the following areas: Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to prepare and explain the assessment results, conduct intervention and programming, and deliver presentations; Prioritize competing demands and manage time effectively to balance large and varied caseload, deal with urgent matters, and ensure timely assessments, reports, feedback and intervention; Demonstrate interpersonal skills that apply active listening, diplomacy, confidence, respect and collaboration within collegial and multidisciplinary settings. Assertiveness, discretion, and tact will be necessary to manage unpredictable situations, contentious issues and difficult conversations. Demonstrate motivation, resilience, adaptability and flexibility.
