About the Program

The Geriatric Psychiatry Program assesses and treats mental illnesses in adults over 65. It focuses on improving quality of life and recovery for older adults dealing with conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and other dementias. Care is provided in collaboration with families, primary care providers, and community agencies.

Qualifications

• Personal Support Worker certification with 1-year documented experience in long-term care including psychiatric and mental health care, or RPN student with a minimum successful completion of year one, or RN student with a minimum successful completion of year two.
• CPR certification or re-certification within the last 12 months.
• Current knowledge of and training in mechanical lifts, transferring and positioning techniques for residents.

Language Requirements

Bilingual (French/English) is mandatory. English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing. French level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension and expression.

Salary Range

Salary: $31.56 to $33.45 per hour
