Property and Events Manager

JOB OVERVIEW

As a Property and Events Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations, maintenance, safety and long-term stewardship of the NCC's Official Residences. You will build strong relationships with resident and partner organizations, coordinate operational and capital projects, provide expert advice on property management matters, and help ensure exceptional service delivery in high-profile environments. You will also play a key role in supporting ceremonial and official events of national significance and in responding to property-related emergencies when required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in business administration, real estate management or project management, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE

Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in property or facilities management, including:

• managing the operations, maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities or property portfolios.
• coordinating and overseeing contractors, service providers or maintenance projects to ensure quality service delivery.
• providing client service and managing relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts in a professional, high-profile or sensitive environment.

KNOWLEDGE

• of property and facilities management principles and practices.
• of applicable building, fire, health and safety and environmental regulations.
• of contract management and procurement practices.
• of project planning, budgeting and project management principles.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Regular travel to NCC properties and work sites.
• May be required to walk on uneven surfaces, work in confined spaces, climb ladders and wear personal protective equipment.
• May be exposed to environmental contaminants, moving machinery, equipment hazards, and adverse weather conditions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Possess or eligible to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
• Linguistic profile: Bilingual CBC.
• Possess a valid driver's licence and a good driver's abstract.
• Participation in a rotational on-call schedule and emergency response activities.
• Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 1 Sussex Drive (Rideau Hall), Ottawa, Ontario.
• The person selected for this position is expected to always work on site.
