Course: Strategic Management (ADM4311M)

Schedule: Tuesday 8:30-11:30

Course Description

This course integrates knowledge attained from prior courses combined with the latest strategy frameworks and analytical concepts. Students must examine and resolve the complex decisions top managers face in today's globally competitive world. Pedagogically, the course utilizes the case study method, which encourages student centered learning, real business analysis, and group participation. As an introductory course in strategy, the emphasis is placed on the fundamental tools of strategic formulation, competitive and market analysis, developing resource and organizational capabilities, shaping strategic fit, and leading organizational integration, with the aim of improving a firm's long-term performance.

Requirements

Must have an MBA or Master's degree (Preference will be given to a candidate with a PhD – completed or in process of being completed) in an area related to strategic management. Excellent knowledge of course subject matter, demonstrated by having taught similar or related courses, or by recent professional experience directly related to the course. Must preferably also demonstrate experience in using Intopia Strategy Simulation.

An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Compensation

Hourly Rate – Teaching: $239.47 (2024-2025)

These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay. These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.
