Course Description

Introduction to electrical power generation and conditioning. Emerging requirements. Emerging renewable energy technologies. Fundamentals of electrical power systems. Emerging renewable electrical power systems (wind power, solar power). Network integration issues. Impact of distributed generation on network operation. "Smart Grid" implementation and control.

Requirements

Excellent knowledge of course subject matter, demonstrated by having taught similar or related courses, or demonstrated by relevant work experience. Applicants must also be licensed as a Professional Engineer. Regular applicants must have a doctorate and it should be in a field related to the course (especially in the case where the course is more specialized), if not, they must have a relevant work experience in a field related to the course, after having obtained their Ph.D.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $239.47 (2024-2025)

The contract for this course will include a payment for 52 hours (instead of 39 hours), as it is required that the part-time professor teaching this course attends tutorials at least one hour per week (on average).

These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay.

These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.
