Course Description

Introduction to the various methods used in policy research and to the use of multivariate quantitative methods to conduct a research project. Research design, data sources and analysis. The qualitative methods examined include the use of focus groups and interviews; quantitative methods include simple and multiple regression, logistic regression, and factor analysis.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a social science discipline, with demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience teaching qualitative and quantitative research methods for social science research or public policy analysis is an asset.
  • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research or policy analysis in a professional setting (e.g., government department, international organization, policy think tank, or non-governmental organization) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with research methods commonly used in the fields of public policy, international affairs, or security and defence studies is an asset.
