Course Description

PDP1232 Mathematics Primary Part I

Overview of theory and practice in mathematics education in the primary and junior divisions; analysis of current Ontario curriculum, policies and guidelines; overview of program design, implementation and assessment; study of basic concepts in mathematics; learning how to provide inclusive and equitable learning environments; integration of information and communication technology.

Requirements

• Master's degree in education.
• Specialist in Mathematics at the Primary/Junior Division; second specialist an asset.
• Facilitated ongoing professional development focused on implementing Ontario Mathematic Curriculum at the elementary level in the past two years.
• Current leadership position in facilitating professional learning to teachers and administrators with respect to Mathematic teaching and learning at the elementary level.
• Involved in a professional network in Mathematics.
• Experience facilitating Primary/junior Mathematics AQ.
• Membership or leadership position in Mathematics education professional organization.
• Has been responsible for developing and implementing an elementary Mathematics program in an Ontario classroom during the last 5 years.
• Capability of applying the Ethical Standards and the Standards of Practice of the Teaching Profession in Ontario.

Salary

Hourly Rate: The hourly rate varies, depending on the enrolments and subjected to acquired rights: $113 & $218.10 (2024-2025)

The salary will be based on student enrollment.

These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.

These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.
